There's a new recall on large quantities of ground beef, due to possible E. coli contamination.
E. coli is a bacterium that may be found in the intestines of cattle. Certain forms of E. coli produce toxins that can cause uncomfortable and sometimes serious medical consequences in those who eat tainted meat, most often as ground beef.
In order for E. coli to thrive inside the intestine of the animal, there must also be grain present in the mixture of the feed the animal is digesting.
Animals raised as pastured do not ever eat grain. Pastured beef is E. coli free!
